Bag Review: Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in Damier Ebene

I’m starting a new feature where I being giving my reviews on some of my designer handbags. I love designer handbags! Since I was a little girl, I’ve always had an unexplainable love them. My first bag review will be on my Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM in damier ebene canvas.

Look and Feel: The Neverfull is made out of Louis Vuitton’s damier ebene canvas, or the brown checker board print. The handles, tassels and trim are made of coated leather.  It is also accented with gold-tone hardware in various places on the bag. I purchased my Neverfull in last December. I actually purchased the monogram canvas print version in September 2014 and soon returned it. I love the monogram canvas, don’t get me wrong, but the print is too in your face for my corporate workplace. I would primarily use my Neverfull for work during the week. The damier ebene canvas print is minimal and less in your face as the monogram “LV” canvas print.

I’ve had my Neverfull for about two and a half months now. So far, I haven’t experienced any slouchiness. My handles are still stiff and have not soften and fallen over the bag just yet. When you look inside the bag, it’s it a big open hole. I’m very OCD about keeping things organized in my handbags. I decided to purchase a purse organizer made to fit into the Neverfull MM from Ebay. To note, I can also use this same purse organizer in my Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 and my Balenciaga City bag.

Issues: Luckily, I haven’t experienced the chipping and pealing on the coated leather trimming and straps (praise Jesus). When I was purchasing my bag from the Louis Vuitton store, the sales associate told me that most of the time when customers have the chipping and pealing issues it’s due to what the customers are putting in their bags. Those who tend to overload their Neverfulls with heavy things experience chipping to the coated leather quicker. Keeping that in mind, I tend to carry my daily handbag essentials in my Neverfull. I don’t want to overload it with heavy things.

Useability: If I’m on the go and want a no-fuss bag to carry, I immediately reach for my Neverfull. It’s been out in the rain with me and I’ve had no issues. I was recently called to serve jury duty and carried my Neverfull. It was perfect because I could carry daily purse needs, along with a scarf (the courtroom was very cold), a few reading materials, and an extra pair of flat shoes. Keep in mind though, the more things you fill it with, the heavier the Neverfull will get.

My Neverfull did come with the matching damier ebene pochette. For me, it was very hard to put things in the Neverfull pochette because it doesn’t have any depth. The only thing I could fit comfortably in it were receipts. I already have a Louis Vuitton mini pochette and didn’t have a need for the Neverfull pochette. So I sold my Neverfull pochette to Fashionphile and I haven’t thought about it since.

Value: The good thing about Louis Vuitton products is that it holds their value. If down the road, I want to sell my Neverfull, I can still get almost 70 to 90 percent back of what I paid for it.

Buy or Skip: I totally would recommend getting a Louis Vuitton Neverfull. Yes, a lot of fashionistas already own it, but it is a Louis Vuitton classic! It will never go out of style. I’ve seen alot of Youtube reviews where vloggers have used their Neverfulls as a handbag, airport carry-on, baby diaper bag and more. It is definitely worth investing in such a classic designer piece because it will last you a lifetime.
