Bag Review: Gucci Soho Disco Bag

One of my favorite handbags I’ve been obsessed with is my red Gucci Soho Disco bag. It has been my everything since the beginning of 2015. I’m recently into carrying only either huge totes (i.e. Louis Vuitton Neverfull) or small shoulder/crossbody bags (i.e. Gucci Soho Disco). I go big or go extremely small when it comes to bags. The Gucci Soho Disco fits the essentials while having a little extra space for other odds and ends you need to carry.

Look and Feel: The Gucci Soho Disco bag is made out of pebbled leather. I spray all of my leather bags with Apple Guard Rain and Stain Protectant spray. This spray is a lifesaver because it protects leather from color transfer from dark denim and other stains. It features a red tassel that is attached to the zipper. There’s minimal hardware and inside has two small pockets.

The color of my bag is a true red. This color is similar to the color of MAC’s Ruby Woo lipstick. I picked the red color because it’s a great pop of color. I typically wear this bag with denim and neutral color dresses. The color definitely catches your eye and you can’t ignore it.

Issues: ZERO issues with this bag. I love carrying it. Gucci’s Soho Disco is very lightweight, which is great for a shoulder or cross body bag. I’ve never had an issue getting into the bag when I’m using it.

Useability: If I want easy small bag to carry, I reach for my Gucci Soho Disco. It’s no-fuss! Usually when I carry this bag, I downsize from a full size wallet to a card case. I usually never carry cash, only cards, so that helps saves some space in the bag. I’m ridiculously OCD with the organization of my bags. So everything has to have it’s place. I tend to carry my essentials (lotion, nail file, nail clipper, lipstick, lip balm) inside a small pouch. I have the Apple Iphone 6 and it slides into the bag perfectly. The only other items I carry are a small comb and my keys. I still have room still to spare.

Value:  Unfortunately, Gucci doesn’t hold its value compared to other luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Chanel. If you want to resell it later you may get 50 to 60 percent back of the amount you paid for it. But for me, I’ll have this bag in my collection forever. The Soho Disco is a Gucci staple piece like the Speedy is for Louis Vuitton.

Buy or Skip: I totally would recommend buying a Gucci Soho Disco bag. Not only is it a great bag, but also it comes in a variety of colors. Each season, Gucci releases new colors. Never once, have I thought that this was a bad purchase or that I should resell it. When I see my bag, I instantly get excited. The classic red color is to die for.
